Orienteering
Practicing orienteering is a perfect way to combine active sports with mental activity. It is a preferred activity in any type of experiential education courses as it quickly bonds the participants with the surrounding and makes them think about nature and its landmarks.
To try it out you just need to go to an event – such events usually take place in the woods, although there are variations such as Ski-Orienteering and Night Orienteering. You will be given the locations of the control points, which you have to find in the specified order by using a map, a compass and your head. Once you have found your control point flag do not forget to do whatever is requested to prove you have found it.
Orienteering can be a competitive or a casual recreational activity, depending on your attitude towards the event. One of its good parts is that people of all ages and athletic abilities could practice it as usually different routes are designed for different skill levels.
