May 3 and the Susquehanna Flats are about to close. Many great fish have been caught on fly and light tackle. It was a classic season on the Flats, but many did not have the opportunity to fish it. There is a special season open on May 16 to May 26th and I am looking to book for this slot. Several have already jumped at this chance. Call now if you are interested in this time frame. It could be the best time to go there this year!
Late fall and winter fishing at the CBBT (Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel) is probably the best Striped Bass fishing on the Mid Atlantic. Just check out the beautiful Striped Bass caught by Tom on March 7, 2008 in my fishing reports. This was the fish of a lifetime. Most of the anglers that fish at the CBBT have landed a personal best. Book a trip for fly or light tackle this season. Really incredible fishing! Check the photos in fishing reports!
Fishing Cape Cod is always a hit. Striped Bass, Blue fish and False Albacore are the usual cast of characters, and again this season blue fin tuna will be targeted. These powerful fish challenge everything you put into it. From the tackle to the lower back, blue fin can break it all! September is the time, book early for this trip.
This year I am fishing the coastal waters with more frequency. Either from Ocean City MD, Rehobeth, or Lewes DE and night fishing at the CBBT are all planned in order to catch better quality summer fish. Large blues and Stripers are usually available within a close three mile limit to the beach and trips to known hot spots are only a 20 mile run. The occasional shark or bonita can be in the mix as well. |
