Welcome to North Star Outdoors. An outdoor pursuits company based on the beautiful North Devon coast. This dramatic coastline provides a unique environment for walking and exciting kayaking opportunities.
Initially we will be offering kayak training up to BCU 2 star level. Using Ilfracombe's natural harbour or the tranquil Watermouth cove which both offer sheltered waters, ideal for practising sea and white water kayaking skills. For the adventurous there will be opportunities to explore this ragged coastline visiting many of its inaccessible beaches and coves. This is a great way to observe the rich wildlife in the area including dolphins and porpoise which are regular visitors to these waters. During the winter months some river trips will be available and for the brave hearted we will have kayak surfing at Woolacombe bay and Saunton sands.
We will also be organising Hillwalking trips offering guided exploration or the spectacular Exmoor coast from Porlock weir to Woolacombe bay and beyond. Also walks over the unspoiled landscapes of Exmoor and Dartmoor using maps and compasses. Walks are graded from easy family outings to challenging hikes for the more experienced. Our trips will extend to some of the great British walks like The Pennine way and the Scottish West Highland way. Pacing, route planning and some basic bush craft survival and navigation skills will be on offer.
North Star Outdoors offers you the chance to explore our coastline and countryside safely and in small groups tailored to the needs of the individual. We hope, in the near future, to extend our range to include mountain trips to Snowdon, Glencoe and Ben Nevis. Watch this space...
